In partnership with EEEGR's Offshore Wind Week Celebrations, Vattenfall will be hosting a supply chain event on the 20th November at new state of the art Energy Skills Centre at the East Coast College Lowestoft campus. Since Autumn 2018, Vattenfall have been actively engaging with local businesses, stakeholders and stakeholder organisations to highlight the opportunities our UK projects, in particular Norfolk Vanguard and Norfolk Boreas, as well as Thanet Extension can offer, and to encourage SME’s currently contributing to or considering joining the sector to prepare appropriately. This meeting is aimed at bringing our T1 and T2 delivery partners together, to examine their role, and how we can collaborate to ensure the sector, and VF projects continue to drive the innovation that will maintain the UK’s position at the fore of the dynamic, global offshore wind sector.
For the first time, EEEGR will be offering tours to significant facilities involved in the Offshore Wind Industry here in the east. SSE Renewables, ScottishPower Renewables, Associated British Ports, East Coast College, 3sun, Equinor, James Fisher Marine Services and more have all freely offered there facilities to allow us to facilitate these. Two tours are on offer; Lowestoft: Associated British Ports (which includes a tour of the port, the Cefas Endeavor, ABP Pilot boat, James Fisher ROV demo)*, SSE’s O& M facility, ScottishPower's O&M facility and East Coast Colleges new Energy Skills Centre. Great Yarouth: ScottishPower Renewables O&M Base, 3sun’s facility and the 3sun Academy, and Equinor’s O&M base. All tours will run between 08:30 and 13:00. The tours are at a cost of £60 for members and £100 for non members (ex. VAT). This price includes the transport, breakfast, refreshments & lunch. All profits will be fed back into to running EEEGR's core programmes such as Skills for Energy and our Special Interest Groups. 4C's market specialists will be presenting on Europe, North America and Asia. Each presentation will give a project-level outlook for offshore wind growth in each country market and provide an overview of the regulatory, policy, technical and supply chain challenges along with and solutions being implemented. Key emerging trends in each market will also be highlighted, e.g. localisation requirements, floating wind etc. Presentations will be followed by discussion and Q&A where 4C's team of experts will be on hand to gladly answer any questions.
An interactive session that will discuss the barriers to supply chain growth and what the potential solutions are. This will focus on how programmes such as the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) can provide support to overcome these barriers but will also consider wider actions in response to the Whitmarsh Supply Chain Review.
